CHD Awareness Month

The month of February raises awareness for Congenital Heart Defects or CHD. As a mom and teacher, this topic is near and dear to my heart as my son was born with a CHD as well as other health issues.

February of 2021, our lives forever changed as my son’s CHD experience resulted in open heart bypass surgery. Watching my strong just turned four-year-old go from safely at my side and into the salmon pink doors of operating room at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, made me realize two things. We are a part of the 1% of the nation’s Heart Warriors AND how much all children can benefit from learning more about CHD’s—even those without any experience with them.
