What is Pediatric OT?

As a mom of a 2e child with Sensory Processing challenges, I know firsthand how important it is to make sure that your child is meeting their developmental milestones. However, sometimes children need a little extra help to reach these milestones, and that's where pediatric occupational therapy comes in. Pediatric Occupational Therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on helping children develop the skills they need to participate in everyday activities. This can include anything from fine motor skills like holding a pencil, to gross motor skills like running and jumping, to cognitive skills like problem-solving and socializing with others. Pediatric occupational therapy is beneficial to children of all needs because it helps them overcome any barriers that may be preventing them from reaching their full potential.

One of the many benefits of pediatric occupational therapy is that it is tailored to meet each child's specific needs. The therapy sessions are designed to be fun and engaging, so children are more likely to participate and stay motivated. This type of therapy can also be done in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics, and even in the child's home. Additionally, pediatric occupational therapy can help children with a wide range of conditions, such as autism, cerebral palsy, and ADHD, as well as children experiencing sensory challenges or developmental delays.

One of our very own team members, Adriane Ransom, is an incredible OT and her practice, Bloom Pediatrics, has married the lifechanging therapies she and her practitioners provide with the incredible benefits of the outdoors.

By providing children with the tools they need to succeed, pediatric occupational therapy can help them achieve their full potential and lead happy, healthy lives. Learn more by reviewing our books for Parents & Caregivers as well as titles for children at One Stop Book Shop!
